Welcome!

I am delighted to have you join us today!

Please allow me to introduce you to Emma-Jane is the CEO of The Works Company (a series of lifestyle businesses) and became the face of The Wellbeing Show for That’s TV (2013-2017), she now presents Talk the Taboo on YouTube/Spotify Podcast, The Well-Being Show & The Power Hour for River Radio.

She writes regularly for various social media platforms as well as media connections & publications and is a regular guest on podcasts. She has also featured in many magazines articles across the globe & is the Founder of Breaking the Silence. She was one of the many volunteers who were honoured with a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services for her Ambassador role with Smart Work Reading.

Her personal and traumatic story of struggle and hardship covered in her debut book entitled ‘Don’t Hold Back’ and headlined in The Sun newspaper (2020) has given her the positive tools and focus she needed to fight back to create a powerhouse of strength; compassion and dedication to living.

Emma-Jane was once told ‘she was the girl going nowhere, the failure’. Sadly it seemed she had, but her reality was very different. She was sexually abused at 9 years old and by 11 years old her biological father told her he could not see her again – she has not seen him since. Aged 13 she fell into the hands of a family acquaintance who groomed her for the next few years.

Throughout her teenage years she drank excessively, took drugs, became bulimic and by 15 years old was pretty exhausted by life and addicted. Her school life struggled, she was often sent to isolation, was labelled a juvenile delinquent by a child psychiatrist at 14 and often suspended - none of which were effective. She struggled with nerves, night terrors, late development, OCD, PTSD, nausea, eating disorders, paranoia, anxiety. At 19 she took off to Spain and at 23 started an A-Z of therapy.

Please allow me to introduce you to Dan Loeffler, Dan is a family man, married his high school sweetheart, Nancy and became a father to a son and a daughter. Nothing could have prepared him for the call on an early November morning that where he lost his daughter. To help with the lost, he began with a private counselor. Dan was able to complete his grief process once he found the Grief Recovery Method (GRM).

Dan was awed with the knowledge that grief can accumulate throughout a lifetime and how it can impact one’s life and relationships. GRM helped him logically understand how to identify, process and communicate my feelings through an action-based approach. Step-by-step, he could address the small unmanageable feelings and the “un-communicated bits” until everything was out in the open. After going through his journey, Dan saw others struggling with their grief, he understood what they were going through, (even though everyone’s journey is unique) and knew he wanted to help them reduce their overwhelming sense of loss.

Dan decided to become a Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist. With the help of the GRM program, Dan uses the simple tasks that help identify, unpack and share the feelings you have buried and ignored. The goals are easy to understand and measurable. The action-based approach has been tried and tested in many different grief scenarios successfully over 35 years. It works.

In this episode we discuss the following:

  • Understanding Grief from a man's perspective
  • Discussing the benefits of expressing once Grief
  • Discussing the Dan's own experience dealing with grief
